Former Bolton midfielder Harry McShane has passed away at the age of 92.

McShane began his career at Blackburn Rovers, but his time at Ewood Park was interrupted by the Second World War, before he moved to Huddersfield Town in 1946.

After a year with the Terriers, he moved to Bolton, where he would go on to score seven goals in 99 appearances, before joining Manchester United in 1951 for a deal worth £5,000.

A successful three year stay at Old Trafford came to an end when he joined Oldham Athletic in 1954, where he called time on his playing career.

McShane leaves a wife, Rene, and one son, Ian, who made his name in television.
