Six Millwall fans have been arrested in connection with a banner directing abuse at Bolton forward Marvin Sordell.

The banner was unfurled during the Lions' 2-1 home win over Derby County on Saturday, with the words 'Sordell is a c***' visible for all to see.

A 13-year-old boy was banned from Millwall games last week for racially abusing Sordell during their match against Bolton in October and this event is just the latest in a series of abusive comments directed towards the England under-21 international, the majority of which have come via social networking website Twitter.

Speaking after Saturday's game, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed six people had been arrested for their part in the disturbances.

"Six males were arrested during the game at Millwall in relation to a banner being unfurled at the game," he said. "They remain in custody at this time."
