Bolton boss Dougie Freedman has hinted that he may be willing to extend Stephen Warnock's stay at the Reebok Stadium.

Warnock has impressed since joining Wanderers on loan from Aston Villa in September, but he is due to return to Villa Park when his deal comes to an end just before Christmas.

The 30-year-old has managed to hold off competition from the likes of Sam Ricketts and Marcos Alonso since his arrival and Freedman has admitted he would be interested in keeping hold of the former Liverpool man.

"I'm just through the door, but what I have seen of Stephen over the last two games has been determination," Freedman told The Bolton News. "He gets tight, and he's a winner.

"I wouldn't want to comment for sure right now, but I can say he's a winner and I'd be a fool not to want to keep winners around."

Warnock has made eight appearances for Bolton during his loan spell and is expected to keep his place when Wanderers travel to Blackpool on Saturday.
