Ream Adjusting To Life After Coyle

Bolton defender Tim Ream has admitted he was unsure how to react when he heard the news of Owen Coyle's departure from the club.

Ream arrived at the Reebok Stadium from New York Red Bulls in January and after adapting to life in the Premier League, a poor start to the season saw him lose his place in the Wanderers side.

The United States international has found himself back in favour during Jimmy Phillips' time as interim manager and the 25-year-old admits he had to seek advice from his fellow teammates in order to concentrate on playing football.

"It was quite stressful for the first couple of days, not knowing,” Ream told The Bolton News.

"I've taken advice from the other guys. Not asking them what to do, but just following their lead.

"My wife and I had a conversation too, and the stressful part was not knowing whether the next manager will like the way you play. It's fear of the unknown.

"For me and for the other guys that he brought in, specifically, it was tough - especially Stu (Holden).

"We came over and made big changes to our own lives and he did a lot to bring us over here, so it was tough to take, but that's the ugly side of football and you have to deal with it."

Ream has completed both matches during Phillips' time in charge and he is likely to retain his place when Wanderers travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
