Dougie Freedman is on the verge of being named the new manager of Bolton after walking out of his position at Crystal Palace.

In a statement on Palace's official website, the club confirmed Lennie Lawrence and Curtis Fleming would take charge of Tuesday night's game against Barnsley, with Freedman moving to the Reebok Stadium.

A statement read: "Crystal Palace Football Club can confirm that first team manager Dougie Freedman has joined Bolton Wanderers. The Board of the Club would like to put on record their thanks to Dougie for all his  efforts over the past couple of years and their disappointment over the events of the past few days .The search for a replacement starts immediately.

"The team at tonight's game against Barnsley will be taken by Assistant Manager Lennie Lawrence and first team coach Curtis Fleming."

Freedman is likely to be at Molineux when Wanderers face Wolves on Tuesday night and he could take charge for the first time when Bolton travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
