Bolton have made an official approach for Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman, who they hope will become the successor to Owen Coyle.

It is understood Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside approached the Eagles at the end of last week, but he is yet to receive a response from Palace officials.

Freedman's current contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of the season and he has yet to open talks over a new deal with the club.
