Bolton chairman Phil Gartside believes the club is in good shape and insists he will not be rushed into appointing a new manager.

Wanderers relieved Owen Coyle of his duties on October 9th, with Jimmy Phillips, Sammy Lee and Julian Darby taking charge of the team for the first time in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Bristol City.

When asked about the current state of affairs at the Reebok Stadium, Gartside admitted he had placed a good team in temporary charge and refused to rule out the possibility of the interim trio being handed the job on a permanent basis.

"We've got quality people here doing a job," Gartside told BBC Radio Manchester. "Jimmy is Bolton through and through and I've known him a long time.

"Him, Julian and Sammy have a wealth of experience and that we've been able to depend on that was a big bonus. That is the strength and the quality of the structure we have put in place here.

"It's not broken. Everyone said 'what's wrong with the club?' But there was nothing wrong except for the first team results."

When asked if Phillips could be offered the managerial position on a permanent basis, Gartside said: "You never know. I think the problem with the way the fixtures fall is that we've got games every two or three days and it doesn't ease up.

"We're going to be inundated with fixtures and there is never going to be an easy time.

"It could possibly be that way, but it would depend on finding the right person."
