Qualifying fixtures for the 2014 FIFA World Cup were held on Friday night, with several Bolton players involved in international action.

Wanderers have struggled to keep clean sheets in recent times, but Adam Bogdan registered a shutout as Hungary recorded a 1-0 win over Estonia in World Cup Qualifying Group D.

Sam Ricketts was an unused substitute as Wales scored twice inside the final 10 minutes to beat Scotland 2-1 in Cardiff, but the news wasn't so good for Trotters midfielder Keith Andrews, who played the full 90 minutes as the Republic of Ireland were thrashed 6-1 by Germany in Dublin.

Earlier in the evening, England's under-21 side took a big step towards qualifying for the 2013 European Under-21 Championships by beating their Serbian counterparts 1-0 at Carrow Road.

Marvin Sordell playd 78 minutes at the home of Norwich City and he will be hopeful of starting the second leg of the play-off fixture in Serbia on Tuesday night.
