Burnley chief executive Lee Hoos has rubbished speculation linking Owen Coyle with a return to the club.

The Clarets are in the hunt for a new manager, after compensation was agreed on Friday for Eddie Howe to return to his former club, Bournemouth.

Coyle, who was sacked by Bolton on Tuesday, was immediately installed as the bookies favourite for the vacant post at Turf Moor, but Hoos admits he doesn't have any intention of bringing their former boss back to the club.

"Obviously I wasn't there when the whole Owen Coyle saga happened, but I got enough feedback to know I just couldn’t see a way back for that one," Hoos told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"Being free and available is not necessarily the hallmark of what we're going for. It has to be the right person. The right man for right job at the right time."
