Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman has quashed speculation linking Nigel Reo-Coker with a move to Selhurst Park.

Reo-Coker is a free agent after leaving Bolton at the end of last season and has been linked with the Eagles, as well as clubs such as Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Dinamo Moscow.

The 28-year-old has been training with Charlton Athletic in recent weeks and speculation arose on Thursday suggesting he could be set for a move to their London rivals, Palace.

Freedman has responded to the rumours and denied talk that he may be set to pounce for the former West Ham United and Aston Villa midfielder, who was voted as Bolton's Player of the Year last season.

"It's not true and there have been no discussions," Freedman told the Croydon Advertiser.

"I've not met him or spoken to him, so it's not true.

"I understand agents put things out, and because I've got respect for Nigel, I won't comment on it, but it's not true and it's a position we don't need to fill right now.

"Nobody is training with the club and there is no loan activity. I would say we're doing OK right now."
