There were mixed results for Bolton's international contingent on Friday night as the qualification rounds for the 2014 FIFA World Cup began.

Adam Bogdan, Sam Ricketts and Tim Ream were all called up by their respective countries, but only one was celebrating victory at the end of the night.

Bogdan completed the full 90 minutes in goal for Hungary, as they opened their qualifying campaign with a 5-0 away win over Andorra. Goals from Roland Juhasz, Zoltan Gera, Adam Szalai, Tamas Priskin and Vladimir Koman saw Sandor Egervari's side move to the top of the European Group D table.

Ricketts and Ream both failed to feature, as their respective countries fell to defeat.

Goals from Vincent Kompany and Jan Vertonghen gave Belgium a 2-0 victory over Wales in Cardiff, with Ricketts an unused substitute at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Ream's hopes of being recalled to the United States line-up were dashed, with the Wanderers defender failing to make the bench as Jurgen Klinsmann's side slipped to a 2-1 loss to Jamaica in Kingston. Clint Dempsey had given the States a first minute lead, but goals either side of the break from Rodolph Austin and Luton Shelton completed the turnaround and gave the Reggaeboyz a surprise victory.
