Bolton boss Owen Coyle has rubbished speculation linking Nigel Reo-Coker with a return to the Reebok Stadium.

Reo-Coker left Wanderers at the end of last season after activating a release clause in his contract, as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

On Monday, Trotters defender Zat Knight openly admitted the club should look into bringing the former West Ham United midfielder back to the club, but following the loan signing of Jay Spearing on Friday, Coyle has confirmed he has no intention of bringing Reo-Coker back.

"I don't know where those stories came from at all," Coyle told The Bolton News.

"Nigel is a player I had a lot of time for, as a player and as a man when he was here at the football club.

"It was his decision at the end of the season to seek pastures new and that's all I can say on that."
