David Ngog made his return from injury on Monday as Bolton's development squad lost 1-0 to Norwich City at the County Ground in Leyland.
Ngog played the opening 45 minutes for John Henry's side, marking his first appearance since a pre-season friendly at Portsmouth more than three weeks ago.
An own goal separated the two sides at the final whistle, with Oscar Threlkeld putting the ball past Jay Lynch whilst under pressure from a Canaries forward.
Ngog isn't expected to be in contention for first team duty until after the upcoming international break.
