Former Bolton defender Gretar Steinsson has signed a two-year contract with Turkish side Kayserispor.

Steinsson was a free agent after his contract at the Reebok Stadium expired at the end of June and he links up with the side that finished 11th in last season's Super Lig.

Speaking about the move, the Iceland international said he was excited when he heard about Kayserispor's interest and he had no doubts about joining the club.

"I was very excited when Kayserispor contact me," Steinsson told Kayserispor's official club website.

"I know it's a club with ambition and goals. A club that fits my goals.

"Our team has very good players and the summer transfers are very good. We have young players and experienced players, set up with high-quality staff.

"I want to work hard and encourage my teammates because waiting for us is a very competitive league.

"I want to be remembered, all our fans to love me and look towards the future. I want to be remembered at Kayserispor as a great success."

Before leaving Wanderers in the summer, Steinsson made 138 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.
