Chris Eagles will put emotions to one side on Saturday afternoon as he prepares to face his former club Burnley at Turf Moor.

Eagles joined Bolton from the Clarets last season in a £3million deal that also saw Tyrone Mears make the short trip across Lancashire.

The 26-year-old is expected to start against his former club on the opening day of the new npower Championship season and he admits he will be going all out to secure victory for the Wanderers.

"When I played for Burnley against Bolton, the atmosphere around the game was amazing and everyone was talking about it in the town." Eagles told The Bolton News.

"It's football and I'll always show respect to Burnley because they did a lot for me, but I'm going to Turf Moor to win a game and then on top of that I'd love to score.

"I'm a Bolton player and whether they (Burnley supporters) go out there and give me stick or not, it doesn't really matter. I'll be doing my utmost to win the game.

"It's a massive game, obviously, because I've been away for a year now, but I'm sure the true football fans will understand why it happened.

"I still love the club and I had some great times there, so there's certainly no hard feelings, I hope."

Eagles played 134 times during a three year spell at Turf Moor, scoring 25 goals.
