Blackpool have offered a contract to former Bolton midfielder James Caton, who was released by Wanderers at the end of last season.

Caton failed to make any appearances for the first team during his time at the Reebok Stadium, but impressed during a recent trial with the Seasiders.

The 18-year-old was on target in Blackpool's 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday and Pool boss Ian Holloway has confirmed he hopes to seal the signing of the winger in the coming days.

"Hopefully he'll get a medical sorted and things are already agreed," Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette.

"I can't wait to work with him and see what he can achieve. When I first got Matt (Phillips) and Incey (Thomas Ince) they were impact players, and James could be one of those this season.

"He's only 18 at the moment, so I've got two years to make him into someone like Tom Ince who's 20."

Should Caton complete a move to Blackpool, he could potentially line-up against his former club when Wanderers visit Bloomfield Road in November.
