Bolton have rejected an offer in the region of £4million from Swansea City for Mark Davies.

Swans boss Michael Laudrup has identified Davies as the ideal replacement for Joe Allen, who looks set to join Liverpool, but will have to come back with an improved bid if he is to land his man.

Davies joined Bolton from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2009 for a fee of £1million and is contracted to the club until the summer of 2015.

Owen Coyle is desperate to retain the services of the 24-year-old, but it is understood a fee in the region of £8million could tempt the club into selling one of their most prized assets.
