Fabrice Muamba is set to receive an honorary degree to celebrate the achievements of the medical staff who saved his life.

Muamba collapsed during an FA Cup tie at Tottenham Hotspur in March as a result of a cardiac arrest and it took 78 minutes for medical staff to get his heart beating again.

The 24-year-old has since gone on to make a full recovery and he will be honoured by the University of Bolton in July.

Speaking about the award, Muamba has once again paid tribute to the efforts of all medical personnel involved in saving his life just three months ago.

"I am very humbled to accept it on behalf of all the amazing men and women who combined to save my life," Muamba said.

"The paramedics and medical teams of Bolton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, ambulance personnel, and of course the consultants, doctors and nurses at the London Chest hospital.

"My family and I owe them all so much."

The University of Bolton's annual degree ceremonies will take place at the town's Victoria Hall on July 12th and 13th.
