Bolton boss Owen Coyle believes his players have enough character to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur.

Wanderers remain in the relegation zone of the Premier League after Wednesday night's heavy defeat, trailing Queens Park Rangers on goal difference with just two games to go.

After Luka Modric had given Spurs a half time lead, but Coyle's men hit back through Nigel Reo-Coker's goal early in the second half.

Bolton pushed for a lead but were hit by two counter attacking goals in quick succession from Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor, before the latter completed the scoring 20 minutes from time as Harry Redknapp's team won a league game at the Reebok Stadium for the first time.

Speaking after the game, Coyle admits the defeat came as a blow to his team, but believes they have the character to bounce back when they host West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

"We know the quality that Spurs have - you just have to look at Modric's opening goal because it was a fantastic strike," Coyle told the club's official website.

"At the start of the second half we were the team in the ascendency and we scored a great goal. We could have then added to it and at that point we were in control of the game.

"I'm disappointed with the goal we lost to make it to 2-1, but that can happen in games. What you have to do then is show a bit of resilience, but we conceded another straight away and that gave us a mountain to climb.

"It's hard from that point onwards, especially against a team of that quality that have got their tails up. We are frustrated, disappointed and annoyed with the way that we have lost the game because it wasn't a 4-1 scoreline.

"A point from today would have been great but it wasn't to be. We know we have enough to go and win our last two games and that's now what we have to focus on.

"What's happened has happened - we've lost a game that we could have easily won. We have to take our medicine and be sure to pick ourselves up.

"We've shown before that we have the character to bounce back and that's what we will do. We will dust ourselves down and be ready for Sunday when we go again against West Bromwich Albion."
