Bolton academy graduate Michael O'Halloran has joined Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season.

O'Halloran has been a regular for the Wanderers second string over the past couple of years and has made two substitute appearances for the first time.

The 21-year-old recently committed his future to the Trotters by signing a deal which will last until the summer of 2015. He joins the Blades as they look to secure promotion to the Championship, ahead of city rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

United boss Danny Wilson is hopeful he can help his side achieve their ultimate goal, saying: "Michael is a player we've had our eye on for quite a while.

"He can play on either flank or in a central striker's role and amongst his numerous attributes he has got blistering pace."

The move means O'Halloran has followed in the footsteps of Paul Robinson, Jack Sampson, Mark Connolly, Rhys Bennett, Sean Davis and Temitope Obadeyi, who are all currently on temporary stints away from the Reebok Stadium.
