Marcos Alonso insists he is fit and ready to play after missing the majority of the season with a broken foot.

Alonso has made just three appearances for Bolton this season after suffering the injury in a Carling Cup tie against Macclesfield Town in August.

He made his return to the side in a defeat at Fulham in December, before sustaining a relapse in his recovery as he was substituted off the field in a win at Blackburn Rovers the following week.

The former Real Madrid defender has successfully come through reserve team games against Manchester City and Wigan Athletic in the last week and has set his sights on Saturday's FA Cup sixth round tie at Tottenham Hotspur.

"More than the scoreline, on a personal level a big part of these two games were to see how my foot felt and of course my physical condition," Alonso told the club's official website.

"Overall I feel really good and the foot feels great. These last two reserve games were exactly what I needed. I feel a lot more confident now in my foot and my fitness.

"I know I've got to keep working hard and hopefully I can get into the first team.

"We have ten games left in the Premier League, each on their own merit a cup final for us because we want to win every one of them. I feel confident we can climb the league table and make sure we stay in the league.

"I want to be a part of the side and if the gaffer asks me to come in and do a job for the first team then I'm confident in my ability. After my injury I'm ready to play more football.

"Whether I'm involved this weekend against Tottenham in the cup, who knows? I do know that I'm ready to play whenever the gaffer decides to call upon me."
