Owen Coyle has confirmed he has not spoken to former Glasgow Rangers midfielder Gregg Wylde about a potential move to Bolton.

The Bolton boss made a £400,000 offer for the 20-year-old last August, only to see the move rejected by Rangers boss Ally McCoist.

The Scottish giants entered administration last month and Wylde was made redundant earlier this week, meaning he would be free to join another club on a free transfer.

Coyle has admitted he held previous interest in the player, but has refused to be drawn on whether he will renew his attempts to sign the player.

"Gregg Wylde is a player, as you know, we had an interest in back in August," Coyle told Sky Sports News.

"He is a talented, young player who probably has been caught up in the turmoil at Glasgow Rangers in terms of his performances have been maybe a little up and down, whereas last season when I saw him there was no doubt he was on top of his form.

"At this moment in time as we sit here I have not spoken to anybody regarding Gregg, whether it be his representatives or anybody else, so that's where we are at the moment.

"Whether that changes, who knows? So I think time will tell on that one."
