Owen Coyle was disappointed with Bolton's performance as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Norwich City at Carrow Road.

With January victories against Everton and Liverpool, coupled with a draw against Arsenal in midweek, Wanderers travelled to Norfolk confident of taking something from the game against the Canaries.

After resisting much of the Norwich pressure throughout the afternoon, late goals from Andrew Surman and Anthony Pilkington gave Paul Lambert's side the victory and Coyle admitted he was disappointed with the 'standard' of his team's performance.

"We came into the game in good form and good heart," Coyle told the club's official website. "We had put in a performance against Arsenal and wanted to push on following that.

"Certainly we had our moments in the first half and as the second half went on we took a good hold on the game. We created a number of chances and had a number of strikes on goal.

"We brought the skipper on and we looked as if we could go on and win the game, but we lost out on our part to two disappointing goals which we felt we could have done better with.

"The level of today's performance didn't match the standard and quality that we know we are capable of.

"We have shown home and away in January that when we perform to our maximum we can pick up points, but the disappointing aspect of today was that we just didn't do that.

"So we go on now and we have our destiny in our own hands. We face a derby game back at the Reebok next Saturday where we will be looking to continue our run of home form."
