Another week comes to a close and Bolton are still waiting to complete their first signing of the January transfer window.

Fresh rumours are emerging on a daily basis but as yet, Wanderers have been nothing but a selling club this month, following the departures of Gary Cahill and Jack Sampson.

Hope remains that arrivals are imminent at the Reebok Stadium, with Tim Ream and Sebastien Le Toux both training with the club ahead of potential moves from the United States' MLS.

Ream has been in talks over a move to Bolton since the beginning of the month and a deal is thought to have been agreed, subject to a work permit being granted by the Home Office and other relevant authorities in America.

A fee of around £2.5million has been agreed with the New York Red Bulls and a hearing over a work permit is understood to be taking place this coming Monday, where a decision will be made on whether to grant the player permission to play for Owen Coyle's side.

The United States international has shown his commitment to the deal after delaying his honeymoon after getting married a fortnight ago so he could hold talks over a move to England.

Should Ream be denied a work permit, Wanderers are expected to appeal the decision and remain confident that the 24-year-old can be unveiled as their player by the end of the month.

Another man who could soon be announced as a Bolton player is Philadelphia Union forward Sebastien Le Toux.

Le Toux flew to England on Wednesday to begin a trial with the club and may be offered a deal if he impresses during his stay.

Despite being a full citizen of the United States, Le Toux holds a French passport and would be available to sign for Wanderers without any of the red tape that appears to be holding up the arrival of his MLS counterpart, Ream.

Fresh rumours emerged on Friday that Bolton are ready to make a move for out of favour Stoke City defender Danny Collins.

Collins has failed to feature for the Potters this season and recently returned to the club following a successful loan stint at Championship side Ipswich Town.

However, according to our sources, Wanderers are not thought to be interested in the signature of Collins unless a deal for Ream fails to materialise.

Our final rumour of the day involves Trotters forgotten man, Sean Davis.

Davis hasn't featured for Bolton since August 2009 as a result of several serious knee injuries.

The 32-year-old appears to be finally on his way back to fitness and Whites boss Owen Coyle has revealed he is open to the possibility of sending the former Portsmouth midfielder out on a short loan deal.

At the time of writing, no enquiries are thought to have been made but a temporary return to Fratton Park could well be an option for the player to receive some much needed first-team action.
