Tim Ream delayed his honeymoon so he could hold talks over a move to Bolton, Trotters boss Owen Coyle has confirmed.
Ream married his long-term partner Kristen Sapienza earlier this month and was due to jet off to the exotic South Pacific island of Tahiti.
With Wanderers determined to complete a deal for the 24-year-old, plans of a life of luxury were put on hold and Coyle believes it shows just how much the United States international wants to make a name for himself in the Premier League.
"Tim got married a week past Saturday and I had to ask him to cancel his honeymoon to Tahiti, which is something he gladly did," Coyle said. "That shows how keen he is to be involved.
"Tim's wife is also a footballer, a very good one, so they were well aware and went into it with their eyes wide open. They knew it could possibly happen.
"So having made the phone call it was something for them to discuss.
"And, fair play to him, he decided to come to sunny Bolton instead of Tahiti."
Bolton are understood to have agreed a fee of around £2.5million for Ream, with both clubs awaiting a decision on a work permit in order to complete a deal. A hearing over the permit is expected to take place on Monday of next week.
