Bolton boss Owen Coyle has admitted he may look to send Sean Davis out on loan.

Davis has made just four appearances for Wanderers since joining on a free transfer from Portsmouth in the summer of 2009, all of which came in August of that year.

A series of serious knee injuries have seen the midfielder miss the last two-and-a-half years of action for the Trotters.

Davis has recently featured in a number of reserve team games and Coyle believes a short loan move may help the 32-year-old in his long-term aim of getting back to playing first-team football at the Reebok Stadium.

"He's been out for two-and-a-half years, not just a couple of months," Coyle said.

"There are steps along the way to getting back to full fitness and I think that (a loan deal) is a conversation that needs to take place between myself and Sean.

"If it's the right thing for him, I'd certainly not be averse to it."
