Bolton boss Owen Coyle has rubbished speculation linking him with a move for Tottenham Hotspur's Giovani Dos Santos.

Reports on Monday suggested Wanderers were about to launch a £4million bid for the former Barcelona attacker, who has made just 30 appearances for Spurs since joining in the summer of 2008.

Loan spells at Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander have yielded mixed results in recent seasons and the 22-year-old has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane.

Wanderers were thought to have overtaken local rivals Wigan Athletic in the race to sign the Mexico international, but Coyle insists he has made no contact with Harry Redknapp regarding the player.

"We haven't been speaking to the lad," Coyle said.

"There are fantastic young players out there in the Premier League and he is certainly one of them, but it is just speculation.

"There is no doubt that he is a top player, but there are many top players out there."
