Bolton boss Owen Coyle has played down reports suggesting he has agreed a deal to sign USA international defender Tim Ream.
Speculation has intensified all week long suggesting the 24-year-old was due to have a medical at the Reebok Stadium on Thursday ahead of a potential move to the club.
Ream recently enjoyed a short spell on trial with Wanderers, who were thought to have got the edge on Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion in the race to sign him.
Coyle admits he is interested in the New York Red Bulls defender, but denies a deal is already in place.
"You could reel off 30 or 40 names that we have been linked with. That is the nature of the transfer window," Coyle said.
"Tim Ream is a player we had in. He has been at West Brom. They were very keen on him as well and Arsenal tried to sign him in the summer.
"He is an outstanding young player. A US international, 24, and no doubt destined for a very bright future.
"Whether anything transpires with Bolton time will tell."
