Dedryck Boyata will remain at Bolton for the rest of the season after Manchester City decided against recalling him from a loan spell at the Reebok Stadium.
Boyata joined Wanderers from the Premier League leaders in August on a deal until the end of the campaign.
As part of the loan agreement, City included a clause which would allow them to recall the Belgium international before January 3rd, 2012. That deadline has now passed, meaning the 20-year-old will remain with the Trotters until the end of the season.
Boyata has made 10 appearances for Owen Coyle's side but has failed to establish himself in the Bolton picture following a string of disappointing performances.
His most recent appearance came in the Boxing Day defeat to Newcastle United and he was demoted to the reserve side that drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Monday night.
