Owen Coyle has praised his Bolton players after they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

Toffees goalkeeper Tim Howard put the hosts ahead just after the hour after a routine clearance gathered pace in the swirling winds, before taking a wicked bounce over his Bolton counterpart Adam Bogdan.

Wanderers responded superbly and were level within four minutes courtesy of David Ngog, before Gary Cahill sealed the win 12 minutes from time in what could prove to be his final appearance for the club.

Speaking after the game, Coyle praised his team and dedicated the win to the travelling support.

"We came into tonight on the back of the Wolves game when we felt we should have taken all three points, so we wanted to build on that," Coyle told the club's official website.

"Everton were in good form and on a run of four games unbeaten and we knew would be in for a tough challenge.

"Their goal, to be fair, was freakish with Adam (Bogdan) well positioned on his six-yard line but there was nothing we could do about the blustery conditions.

"I thought we responded terrifically and we continued push on, knowing that we had goals in us.

"We scored two well-worked goals - there was something like ten or eleven passes leading up to our first and then a clinical finish by Gary (Cahill) for the second.

"Prior to that, Tim Howard made a couple of wonder saves, firstly from Mark Davies just after half-time and then from David's (Ngog) curling effort.

"The team showed a real belief and resilience, and as ever were backed by a vocal following.

"Even at 1-0 down the fans got behind the players and gave them whole-hearted encouragement. I'm delighted for them that they can go home tonight having seen us pick up maximum points.

"What we need to do now is match our away record with our home form. We've picked up 12 points on the road and we need to replicate that at the Reebok. We know it's there for us - we have good players and we have a belief."
