Bolton boss Owen Coyle admitted he was disappointed to take just a point after his side drew 1-1 at home with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Trotters took the lead in superb fashion when Sam Ricketts scored his first goal for the club midway through the first half, but Steven Fletcher's header four minutes after the break pulled the visitors level.

Bolton went in search of a winner, only to be denied by Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, leaving Coyle frustrated at the final scoreline.

"Given our first-half performance we are disappointed not to have taken all three points," Coyle told the club's official website.

"I thought in the first half we played with a very high tempo. We did all the things we expect to do very well and we got a deserved lead which we could have added to.

"I'm delighted that Sam came in and played at the level that he did. I spoke to him before the game and he was enthusiastic about playing, and he scored a fine goal. Sam is a good player and we have missed him over the last ten months.

"We gave a soft goal away at the start of the second half and then both teams had the opportunities to go on and win the game. Hennessey made some wonderful saves, while Jussi made one for us.

"After we took the jolt at the start of the second half we looked to get the elusive winning goal. Gary Cahill and Fabrice Muamba came very close and we had a few chances when the ball flew across goal. On another day they might have gone in for us.

"At 1-1 the game was in the balance and over the piece we finished with eight shots on target to their three. I think we offered enough to have got the three points but it is what it is.

"We have to pick ourselves up, build on the pleasing aspects and be ready to go to Everton in a few days' time."
