Chelsea have agreed a fee with Bolton over the possible sale of Gary Cahill, Owen Coyle has confirmed.

Cahill's contract at the Reebok Stadium expires at the end of the season and Wanderers risk losing him for nothing if they fail to offload their prized defender in the January transfer window.

The England international had been linked with Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but Chelsea appear to have stolen a march on their rivals after agreeing a fee with the Trotters.

Should a deal be completed, Cahill will link up with his England defensive partner John Terry at Stamford Bridge. Despite confirming a fee had been agreed, Coyle maintains the 26-year-old is still in his plans for the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

"The situation is that the clubs, Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea, have at this moment in time agreed a fee for Gary," Coyle said. "Now it is up to Gary's representatives to speak to Chelsea.

"From our part, I've said to Gary that this is why he has representatives and that his focus is on football and football only.

"Gary's mind will be on making sure that he is ready to give a big performance for Bolton Wanderers against Wolves. He has to be ready to give everything, as he always is."

The fee is understood to be in the region of £5m-£7million and the deal could be completed as soon as the window opens on January 1.
