Marcos Alonso will be out for at least a month after suffering a recurrence of a foot injury in the 2-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers.

Alonso sustained a broken foot in August's Carling Cup win over Macclesfield Town and made his return to the first team in Wanderers' 2-0 defeat at Fulham last weekend.

The young Spaniard retained his place for the trip to Ewood Park but was replaced just before the hour.

After initial x-rays failed to show any fracture to the injured foot, Alonso was sent to see a specialist, who confirmed the former Real Madrid starlet will be unavailable until the end of January.
