Sheffield Wednesday manager Gary Megson has admitted he turned down the opportunity to sign Bolton forward Robbie Blake.

Blake has been linked with a loan move away from the Reebok Stadium in recent months having made just three appearances this season.

Burnley and Norwich City had been linked with moves for the 35-year-old and Megson admits Wednesday's reported interest is a non-starter because of the age of the player.

"There's absolutely nothing in it," Megson said.

"There's an agent who's working to get players to Wednesday all the time.

"We have a full quota of forwards, Gary Madine, Chris O'Grady, Ryan Lowe and Clinton Morrison.

"I don't want to be rude, and Robbie has been a good player, but he's 35 and it's not something I would be wanting to do.

"We are looking for a couple of players to complement what we've got, but not in that position."
