After seeing off Macclesfield Town on Wednesday night, Bolton will make the trip to Aston Villa in the third round of the Carling Cup.

Goals from Tuncay and Martin Petrov saw Owen Coyle's side beat their League Two opponents, while Villa also recorded victory over opposition from England's fourth tier, beating Hereford United 2-0 at Villa Park thanks to goals from Eric Lichaj and Nathan Delfouneso.

The tie will take place in the week commencing 19th September 2011.

The last time the two sides met in the competition was at the semi-final stage in 2004, where Wanderers recorded a 5-2 first-leg victory at the Reebok Stadium and despite losing the second-leg 2-0 at Villa Park, they advanced to the final with a 5-4 aggregate success.
