Owen Coyle was happy with the performance of his side after their 2-1 victory over Macclesfield Town in the Carling Cup.

Goals from Tuncay and Martin Petrov gave Wanderers the victory, but they were made to work for their place in the next round after Emile Sinclair had given the League Two side a surprise lead early on.

Speaking after the game, Coyle admitted his side made mistakes but he was in no doubt that they deserved to claim the win.

"These cup ties are notoriously tricky because teams make a lot of changes and when you make eight there is always a chance there isn't that cohesion or fluency that you want," Coyle said..

"We started the game really well and should have gone in front but then conceded a soft goal and I think everyone could see the mistakes that were made.

"Macclesfield were always a threat. I've been there on many occasions as the underdog both as a player and manager and it is a cup final for them.

"But we scored two very good goals and we could have scored six or seven in the second half."
