Bolton have completed the double signing of Burnley duo Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears for a combined fee in the region of £3million.

Eagles and Mears become Owen Coyle's third and fourth signings of the summer, following on from the captures of Darren Pratley and Nigel Reo-Coker from Swansea City and Aston Villa respectively.

They have both signed three-year contracts at the Reebok Stadium and Coyle admits he is looking forward to working with the pair again, after previously working with them during his time as manager at Turf Moor.

"Both Chris and Tyrone are top players and have shown that they have the ability to compete successfully at the highest level," Coyle told the club's official website.

"I have worked with them both before and know what they will bring to the club in terms of character and commitment.

"Along with Nigel Reo-Coker, we have added real quality to the squad."

The players admitted they were happy to make the moves, with Eagles targeting goals from midfield this season.

"I know that it is a good squad so the challenge for me will be to work hard and then look to contribute," Eagles said.

"I am an attacking midfielder and I will certainly be looking to chip in with some goals."

Mears is also hopeful of making a mark on the first-team and is looking forward to linking up with his old boss.

"I'm really looking forward to working with a manager I've worked with before and playing in the Premier League," Mears said.

"From the outside looking in, this has seemed like it is a club going in the right direction.

"It wasn't a difficult decision at all. I know exactly what the manager expects from his players and I'm more than ready for it."
