Speaking after Bolton's 2-0 victory over Bury, Wanderers boss Owen Coyle admitted he was happy with how his side are coping with the busy pre-season schedule.

After returning from a three-game tour of the United States last Friday, Bolton recorded a 4-1 success over Bradford City on Saturday, before turning over their near neighbours at Gigg Lane on Wednesday evening.

Goals from Ivan Klasnic and Gary Cahill gave the Trotters the win and Coyle believes games against Newport County and Hereford United within the next week will push his squad to standards they are aiming for.

"Bury were extremely lively, and on the occasions they did attack created good opportunities. For that reason we had to be on top of our game," Coyle told the club's official website.

"We knew they would test our abilities and go for the win, but overall we coped well and it was a pleasing 90 minutes.

"We had a tremendous backing tonight of over 1,600 fans who were brilliant throughout. They really do make a difference and the players really appreciate their support.

"My players worked their socks off tonight. We've only recently come back from our tour of the United States and played Bradford City on Sunday. We then trained on Monday and Tuesday so we've been working hard.

"We'll now continue to step things up with two more games, against Newport and Hereford over the coming week."
