Rodrigo Moreno admits returning to Bolton is not in his thoughts and he would prefer to stay at Benfica.

Rodrigo spent last season on loan at the Reebok Stadium, despite joining the Portuguese giants from Real Madrid earlier in the summer.

The Spain under-20 international made 21 appearances for the Trotters last season and boss Owen Coyle has previously confirmed his intentions to bring the player back for another stint at the club.

Moving back to England, though, is not currently part of his plans, with the player hoping to win a place in the Benfica side next term.

"A return to Bolton on loan has not part of my plans," Rodrigo said.

"My aim is to continue at Benfica because I believe I have the quality to fight for a place in the starting eleven.

"That battle will be hard because of the level of my team-mates but I have progressed much during the last season.

"I have spoken with the coach and I believe that I have a genuine chance to carry on at Benfica."
