Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of Ali Al Habsi for a fee believed to be in the region of £4million.

Al Habsi, who spent last season on loan at the DW Stadium, has signed a four-year deal with the Latics.

After making just 18 appearances during his five years at the Reebok Stadium, the Oman international moves on with the best wishes of Trotters boss Owen Coyle.

"Ali knows he needs to play regular first team football," Coyle told the club's official website.

"Wigan afforded him that opportunity last season and he thoroughly enjoyed himself there.

"This a good move for him and out with being a top professional he is a fantastic man. Ali leaves the club with the best wishes of everyone at Bolton Wanderers."

The player also thanked Wanderers for helping him make his name in English football.

"I would like to thank Phil Gartside and Owen Coyle for their support and, of course, the fans of Bolton," Al Habsi said.

"I have enjoyed my time with the club and thank them for the opportunity they gave me."
