Whelan Stands Firm On Al Habsi Deal

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan insists the Latics will not up their offer for Bolton goalkepeer Ali Al Habsi.

Al Habsi has been the subject of two bids from Roberto Martinez's side after a successful loan spell at the DW Stadium last season, both of which have been rejected by Wanderers.

Whelan says an agreement was made between the two clubs at the beginning of last season and has accused the Trotters of going back on the deal.

"We've made our offer, and we're sitting on the fence at the moment," Whelan said.

"They're trying to get more money out of us, but we've told them straight, we're not paying any more money.

"We saw our first bid turned down, which we thought we might, and our second offer remains on the table.

"It's our fullest and final offer. The offer is what we were quoted for last summer - £3million."
