Rodrigo Moreno will not return to Bolton next season, a source close to the player has said.

The 20-year-old spent the campaign on loan at the Reebok Stadium from Portuguese giants Benfica, but looks set to stay at the Stadium of Light next season.

"Bolton and other clubs were interested in the player for next season, but our coach now thinks his place is here with Benfica," a source said.

The news on the player's future has been echoed by his father and agent, Adalberto Machado, who believes staying at Benfica would be the best decision.

"This is what he wanted," Machado said. "The experience in England has been superb and the boy is now more mature and more experienced. His goal is to win at Benfica."
