Daniel Sturridge believes he must play first team football next season and admits he could leave Chelsea if he doesn't get his wish.

Sturridge swapped Stamford Bridge for the Reebok Stadium in January when he joined Bolton on loan and he has gone on to score eight goals in 11 appearances for the Wanderers.

With doubts over the form of Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba and former Wanderers striker Nicolas Anelka at the Bridge, Sturridge has been tipped to fight for a first team place at his parent club next season.

The player admits he would like to play for Chelsea but will not be put off a move elsewhere if his plans do not work out.

"I want to play first-team football regularly for Chelsea Football Club," Sturridge told Sky Sports.

"I love the club. I have been at the club now for a year-and-a-half and have been on loan at Bolton. I love playing football for Chelsea.

"I don't want to say I am going to leave the club, I want to play regularly, but for me next season it is very important to play first-team football.

"I want to play at Chelsea but if the chances don't come at Chelsea, then I will have to look elsewhere."

When quizzed over his future at Stamford Bridge, the England under-21 international refused to rule out another loan move to the Reebok Stadium, insisting any decision lies in the hands of the Blues.

"Whatever Chelsea's decision is, it's not for me to make that decision," he said.

"The only decision I can make is that I want to play first-team football and that's the one that I choose to take. First-team football is very important for me next season.

"I'm enjoying my time at Bolton, it's been going great. I love playing for Chelsea Football Club and there is nothing else to say."
