Bolton boss Owen Coyle has put his sides 4-3 defeat at Blackpool down to poor defending and believes his side should have walked away with at least a point.

Kevin Davies' tenth goal of the season gave Wanderers a sixth minute lead at Bloomfield Road, only for DJ Campbell to pull the hosts level just three minutes later.

Jason Puncheon put Blackpool ahead on 19 minutes, only for Matt Taylor to equalise five minutes later, before Campbell made it 3-2 to Ian Holloway's side at the break.

Daniel Sturridge brought the Trotters level again eight minutes after the restart, before Charlie Adam won the game for the Tangerines on 63 minutes, leaving Coyle to blame a poor defensive performance for his side's defeat.

"We've lost a game that I certainly felt didn't merit it on the performance we gave," Coyle told Sky Sports.

"I think the first half was quite even with Blackpool just edging in front, but in the second half we've dominated and Jussi Jaaskelainen's not had a save to make in the game.

"We got it back to 3-3 and looked set to go on and win the game and then we get caught on the counter-attack, although I've got to say it was a great finish from Charlie Adam.

"Having said that, we've got to defend better as a team, and each goal, as good as the finish was from the Blackpool player, I thought the defending was naive and self-inflicted."
