Bolton boss Owen Coyle has challenged Ivan Klasnic to improve his all round game if he is to cement a starting role at the club.

Klasnic scored his seventh goal of the season in the defeat to Sunderland at the weekend, but is yet to start a single Premier League game this campaign.

The Croatia international recently admitted he was considering his future, but Coyle believes the 31-year-old can become a pivotal part of his team if he puts in the effort.

"I've said many times about Ivan - he's a goalscorer," Coyle told The Bolton News.

"But sometimes it takes more than just scoring goals to play every game, and he knows that.

"That's a chat we've had and he knows the harder he works the more chances he'll get.

"We're not an elite club that dominates games. We need every one of our players working their socks off and I think when Ivan does that, there's no doubt we'll have a very good team and that's where he has to improve."
