Owen Coyle insists Sean Davis has a future at Bolton Wanderers, despite playing just four games in two seasons with the club.

Davis signed for Wanderers in the summer of 2009, but hasn't featured since August of the same year due to complications with a serious knee injury.

The Bolton boss admits the midfielder is currently on schedule for a return in pre-season, but it may take time until the Trotters supporters see the best of the 31-year-old.

"Sean is on his way back and the specialists are all pleased with his progress up to this point," Coyle told The Bolton News.

"But he is still well away from being at the level Sean is capable of playing at.

"It will be next season before you see Sean back to his best. But he is coming along well.

"After everything he's been through he's still in great spirits. His motivation is to get back and have a career he was known for."
