Bolton's forgotten man, Jlloyd Samuel, is back in training and believes he will soon be ready to challenge for a place in the first-team.

Samuel hasn't featured for Wanderers since March of last year and has been out of action since the summer with a ruptured thigh.

The 29-year-old admits the injury has been tough to recover from but, with light now at the end of the tunnel, he is ready to push on and reclaim his place amongst the Wanderers defence.

"This type of injury is quite rare in football and is something that you would most likely expect to find in rugby," Samuel told the club's official website.

"I've been working hard to get myself fit and have been back training with the rest of the lads for about a week now. Fingers crossed things will continue going well and I will be back to full fitness again in next to no time.

"I had to have surgery to reattach the muscle back together and so it was quite a big operation, but because I have been out for quite a long time then I'm obviously enjoying being back involved at the moment.

"I'll hopefully train again for a few weeks and then I will look to play a couple of games with the reserves and see how everything goes."
