Former Bolton defender Danny Shittu has joined Championship side Millwall on a three-month contract.

Shittu left Wanderers last month after agreeing a compensation package to secure his release from the club.

In a bid to recapture his fitness and form, the Nigeria international will link up with the Lions and could make his debut against Derby County at the weekend.

Speaking about the move, Shittu insists it was the right choice to drop back into the Championship after two-years in the Premier League.

"This move ticks all the right boxes for me," Shittu told Millwall's official club website.

"I'm excited to be coming here and I hope to help Millwall push up the table.

"I know a bit about the club from friends who are supporters and everything I've heard has been positive."
