Bolton forward Johan Elmander has taken a swipe at former boss Gary Megson over his management of the club.

Elmander joined Wanderers from Toulouse for a club record £8.2million in the summer of 2008, but failed to live up to expectations after scoring just ten goals in his first two seasons.

With four goals already to his name this campaign, the Sweden international insists his uprise is down to the management of Owen Coyle, criticising former boss Megson in the process.

"It doesn't help to stare and scream at me," Elmander described Megson's approach. "I got tired the more of it I heard.

"(Owen) Coyle is a great coach, who I really enjoy working with.

"It's fantastic and great that I can play my game. As soon as he came to the club I started to play well, even though the goals didn't come right away.

"I'm not thinking about things as much now. It has been a long time since I felt that way.

"I probably had the self-confidence when I came to Bolton, so it disappeared somewhere along the way, but now I've found it again. I have known all along that I am able to play at the level I'm at now."
