Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised Bolton for the way they went about improving Jack Wilshere last season.

Wilshere spent the second half of the campaign on loan from the Gunners and is expected to play against his former club when the two sides meet at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

It would appear that Wenger has had a change of heart about Wanderers since Owen Coyle took the reigns in January and he believes his team are in for a tough game at the weekend.

"Bolton have a good mixture of a direct game and football on the ground," Wenger said.

"They can be a very dangerous side, they have a good mixture of a technical game and a direct game.

"I give Bolton a lot of credit for having played him (Wilshere). It transformed Jack in his power, in his confidence.

"Looking at him at 18-years-of-age he is well advanced and I personally like a lot how he has developed.

"We were in touch at the start of the season because they wanted him back which shows how well Jack had done there.

"I saw in pre-season that he has developed very quickly and that he is one of the assets for our team as well. I consider him now a full player of the squad."

Wilshere made 14 appearances during his loan spell at Bolton last season and scored his only goal in a 2-1 win at West Ham United in March.
